LD Acres Move N Molly

Our first McNab at LD Acres McNabs was purchased from a gentleman by the name of Don Hutchison of Orange Cove, CA.

Don had been raising these amazing canines for years, and his love & devotion towards the McNab breed was obvious. His McNabs were hard working, driven & dedicated; their talent & ability more than spoke for itself.

We purchased a female pup from Don, and named her Molly. She was a beautiful black and white McNab, with the most incredible eyes; colored a vibrant copper/orange - truly both lovely and haunting at the same time.

Molly was a laid back pup, one who displayed very little silly puppy type of play. Instead, she displayed a serious work ethic from the start.

From a young age, Molly had direct eye on her handler, at all times. She was always waiting and always ready for a command. It was obvious to us, that from the day she joined our family, Molly had given to us her soul, and to us she would be devoted to till the day she died -- and this she was with perfection.

Molly did not work with livestock until she was an adult. Prior, she was a phenomenal frizbee athlete, who was unfaultered at the sport.

In 1998 we purchased a herd of Angora goats and began raisng these unique gentle creatures. We desired to give Molly the job of moving the goats in and out of their pasture grounds, however had questioned her ability due to her age and lack of exposure to livestock. Oh, we of little faith! In pure amazement, Molly took the job at hand, as though she had been working stock all of her life and completed her task with confidence.

Molly was a natural lead/head dog, with bark and bite when need be. She got down to business with sure confidence and finished with pride. Molly's style of working stock was to get ahead, gather & bunch the stock, hold the stock, then lead them in.

Aside from her work with the Angora herd, Molly ran a tight ship around our establishment. She was always working 24/7, checking the fence lines, chasing off unwanted predators, alarming me of a strange automobile driving on our property, and lovingly babysitting our young children. I have never met a more perfect canine than that of our Molly. Her work ethic was truly unsurpassed. She lived her life to work and please her human family, who she gave her soul to from the start.

Molly died on December 23, 2002 and our lives will never be the same without her. To us, she was the pilar of strength & beauty. She was valued & loved dearly on all levels, by her human family, and admired highly and well respected by her canine family. Molly was the *Alpha* and now her pack is quiet in wonder. It's a very unsettling feeling to know that her post is left unattended. She ran such a tight ship; not just in assuring to us that the property was secure and safe, but also that we, her human family was secure and safe. Molly took such good care of us, the type of care that one never fully understands, until it is gone.

Molly has made a great and valuable contribution towards the preservation of the McNab breed, as she has left behind talented off-spring in several states across America. May her legacy live on forever.
